I had a call today from a friend who's looking for info on the American Medicare/Medicaid system for a politics assignment, and it struck me that one or two on my flist might just be able to point us in the right direction. Her assignment's due early next week, and the resources that she'd been lead to believe were available just aren't yielding any results.

Basically, she's after any reputable sites/reference resources outlining either the US government's position on the system AND/OR detractors of the government's handling of Medicare. Her basic premise in answering the question 'how does this work' is 'it doesn't.'

I'll be emailing her a link to this post (since she's not on lj), so if anyone has any has any suggestions, they'd be gratefully accepted. Even the most obscure could give her something to go on - at the moment, she's getting quite desperate. Even quotes with author reference could be useful.
